Many small businesses are trying to compete with the large corporations on Google to get their business noticed. Google is trying to help them with yellow tagging their ads. This is a new strategy that is being tested in a couple of states. This may help some business owners that are familiar with Adwords, but the majority of people would need to study how Adwords work and have the fund to be able to sustain their campaign to keep them atop the 1st Page of Google. Google’s Super Bowl Ad at 3rd Quarter

If you did not see the advertisement of Google in the 3rd quarter of the superbowl, the link is below. This is an example of how powerful the largest search engine in the world can help people find your business. I wanted to share this ad with you that was made in December of 2005 regarding a 38 year veteran in the publishing business named Bob Cringely. He explains to us how he is predicting that Search Engines will be putting the Traditional Publishing Industry out of business. I would not go as far as saying it will completely die out, but the market has shifted to online advertising with Google Adwords being at the front of the line. This ad was written in Dec. 2005 and his prediction was on the money. Here is his story:

Many small to medium sized businesses are really feeling a hit from the economy these days. As they were striving before, they are seeing the harsh times and many have to close down because of the economy. Remember, people are still buying and searching for products either online or offline. The customers are there, but they need to find you. Did you know that roughly 90% of the people in your neighborhood research what they are looking for online before they purchase offline.

Traditional media such as yellowpages, newspaper, TV, radio, direct mail and others are not getting the impact many business owners need to succeed in these times. Being online with a website is just one part of Branding Yourself and your business. You may have a great looking website, but if nobody can find you, you could be missing alot of business from your competitors that are online and being seen on the 1st Page Of Google. I am using Google as a sample because they are the largest search engine in the world.

When you search for a product or service online, most likely you will go to Google to search for what you are looking for. So why not have your business found online for everyone who is searching for you, to be seen in front of your potential customers? If they don’t see you, they will see your competition.

Sure, you can hire an SEO company to optimize your website for the internet, but the average small to medium sized business owner does not have the money to get a campaign like this started. SEO companies can charge thousands a month for a small business owner to be ranked high on the search engines. This can also take many months to achieve and once again, this is not guaranteed. Many SEO companies will shy away from the mom and pop stores because they know that those business owners cannot afford their services.

So how does a small to medium sized company get seen online with the big chain stores and not have to spend an arm and a leg to show up on the 1st Page Of Google? Can anyone guarantee that they will show up there and be affordable for almost any business owner? Well the answer is YES.

CNBC Interviews the inside of Google

In my his thesis John Battelle said ”There is more profit in Adwords than the entire media business in the 10 years they have been in business.“

David Fisher, Vice President, Global Online Sales & Operations for Google said

“You cannot buy your way to the top if your ad is not relevant. An advertiser who chooses the right set of keywords and shows really relevant ads can actually appear right at the top and actually be paying less than some of the advertisers who appear below them because their ad is so relevant our system actually rewards that. What Adwords does is create a level playing field, for everyone from the smallest mom and pop business up to the largest fortune 500 company and let’s them compete along side of each other.”

A reporter interviewed a small business in Nogales Arizona called Paul Bond Western Boots who is using Google Adwords.

George Bond, Adwords Advertiser and son of owner of Paul Bond Western Boots in Nogales Arizona said this.

“Google could overwhelm us, quickly; Given the indicated figures it could double the number of orders coming in. There is far more out there available to us if we decide to extend the budget further.

Paul Bond Western Boot company has a 4 month waiting list for custom boots. When Paul Bond Boots launched their campaign orders instantly spiked more than 20% and have gone up since.

Reporter: How good of a program is Google Adwords for small businesses like yours?

George Bond said “In my opinion it would be indispensable in a time like this. You can hit the people who are actually looking for your product such as this. It’s a relatively small number of people but they know what they are looking for if you will just help them get there.
